I had discovered her metal contraption which ladies used once a month to take care of their feminine problems. It wasn't much later that another church get-together at ours (when would my mother learn?) was temporarily brought to a standstill when my little sister came toddling in clutching emtpy beer bottles. We never did fit in that small (conservative) town.
